Welcome Weeks is our section's biannual event intended for new incoming Erasmus students. In 14 days and with over 20 events, you'll get the chance to meet your fellow Erasmus (and us locals), learn more about the Slovenian culture, and get to know your home city for the upcoming semester. Activities range from social and cultural events to social and sports events, parties, and many, many more. There should be something for everyone, so make sure you don't miss out on this once-in-a-semester opportunity.

We will also be offering a package deal of Welcome Weeks + the Slovenia trip. The Slovenia trip is a 3-day trip where we take you around our beautiful country to show you everything it has to offer. From the famous tourist sites like Postojna cave and Lake Bled to our small yet mesmerizing seaside, we try to make sure you see as much of our little chicken. This semester's trip is planned between [TBA] with more details coming out soon. More info on Slovenia trip (click).

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Are the Welcome Weeks worth it?

The Welcome Weeks is a unique opportunity for incoming Erasmus students to learn about the culture they'll be living in for the next semester, meet other students, and last but certainly not least, have a ton of fun while doing it. So yes, in our (totally unbiased) opinion, the Welcome Weeks is absolutely worth it.

Where and how can I buy a bracelet?

Due to the nature of this event and legal limitations, bracelets can only be bought in person during our office hours. There is no way for you to pay online or reserve a ticket beforehand. We understand this may not be ideal for some of you, but it's the only way we can make sales both fair & compliant with local regulations.

I'm arriving to Maribor late. Is there any way I can buy the bracelet online/reserve a bracelet/get a friend to buy it for me? Can you increase the number of bracelets being sold?

Bracelets cannot be reserved or bought by a friend. The sales are limited to one bracelet per person and only the person buying it is allowed to use it. While we'd love to give everyone the chance to participate in Welcome Weeks, there is no easy way to make the process of bracelet sales both fair to you as well as achievable for us from an organizational standpoint. Maribor is a relatively small town with limited venue sizes, and at the end of the day we are volunteers who have limited time, so increasing the number of bracelets being sold honestly isn't possible.

Will bracelets still be on sale at the start of Welcome Weeks?

While it's possible there will be bracelets available, we simply can't guarantee it. It depends on how many bracelets will be sold in the sales week and how many Erasmus students come to Maribor. We'll notify you of any bracelets left so keep a look at our notification channels.

Will there be an overlap between Welcome Weeks events and classes?

The answer to this question depends on your faculty. You will have a meeting with your Erasmus coordinator on the first day where you'll be given a schedule for the semester. Most faculties don't begin classes for Erasmus students in the first two weeks, but even if they do, you honestly aren't missing out on much if you don't make it to the introductory classes (trust us, we've skipped our fair share of those). Our suggestion is don't stress it, enjoy the Welcome Weeks as much as you can, you'll have plenty of time for UNI work after :)

Can I participate in any WW events without a bracelet?

For most events, the number of people who can participate is limited and the venues don't allow a bigger number of people. There might be some events (like parties) that will be open for everyone (with special discounts/benefits for bracelet owners), those will be promoted separately so don't worry about missing them.
